In case you haven’t heard, it’s
a big year for WordPress. Not only is our favorite versatile web platform celebrating its 20th birthday, but
WordCamp Vancouver — part of an annual conference series celebrating the WordPress community — is in-person again for the first time since 2019! It’s all happening on September 23rd, with
tickets on sale now.
As experts at building beautiful B2B and B2C WordPress sites of every size and complexity, you can bet that the Major Tom team is excited about the event.
But you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy WordCamp 2023. Whether you have years of WordPress experience or just want to learn about the platform, this year’s WordCamp has a ton to offer.
Sessions for everyone
First of all, it’s important to know that WordCamp isn’t just for developers.
Sure, it offers plenty of opportunities to learn about the latest features, updates, and best practices for the platform directly from community experts and core contributors. But there are also sessions covering everything from content creation and WordPress design to SEO, AI, and business strategy.
That all happens in a mix of sessions, workshops, panels, and presentations. At each one, you’ll hear from knowledgeable speakers who share their insights, experiences, and success stories on the platform. And having experienced - and helped organize! - more than one WordCamp ourselves, we can vouch for the fact that it’s an incredibly welcoming atmosphere for users of all skill levels.
Better yet, to keep things as accessible as possible, tickets are also locked in at an affordable price point: just $30 for a full day of sessions.
Whatever your interest in WordPress, it’s likely that one of this year’s sessions can help you learn a little more. All you need to bring is your curiosity and enthusiasm.
An event by the community, for the community
Of course, WordCamp is also all about community. While the sessions themselves always spark interesting insights, every WordCamp is just as much about giving the WordPress community a place to connect, network, and learn. It’s a vital part of helping WordPress itself continue to grow.
In that spirit, the event is totally volunteer-run. It relies on the dedication and hard work of people who are genuinely passionate about the platform. They collaborate on everything from selecting session topics to the design and dev of the current website, to approaching relevant industry sponsors and speakers each year.
Alfredo Rodríguez, Lead Back-End Developer at Major Tom and Lead Organizer of WordCamp Vancouver 2023.
You’ll see the organizing team on the day of the event, and their energy always shows through. In fact, Major Tom’s own Alfredo has been a longtime participant (attending events in Vancouver, Toronto, Taipei, and Korea) and is the lead organizer for WordCamp Vancouver 2023!
Alongside Major Tommers Tyler (who joined the event’s design team and helped style the website) and Andres (who’s co-leading and organizing this year’s team of volunteers), we’re big believers in the possibilities of WordCamp, even hosting mini meetups and speakers at Major Tom HQ.

A chance to network and grow
At WordCamp, that community connection goes both ways. Outside of each session, WordCamp is filled with other WordPress enthusiasts, developers, designers, bloggers, freelancers, and more. All looking to chat and learn about the platform.
That means WordCamp 2023 offers you a unique chance to build your professional network and make connections with other users and experts. Whether you’re looking for content inspiration, want to discuss the direction of the platform, or even just talk through a stubborn dev problem, you’ll be able to share your questions and insights with fellow community members, face-to-face.
In the past, Major Tom has even hired people who came to connect with us at the event — and you never know what new professional opportunities might crop up this year.
